Driving through Kihikihi the old Star Inn is an impressive building. I did not realise it was
constructed in 1883, when the horrific Waikato wars had been fought ,and Ngati Maniapoto had been overrun.Awful history.The hotel was built with the set up of the railway line .The other hotel the alpha was constructed in 1868.
The story of this town has made me look at New Zealand history , The British army, the atrocities.Not a proud ancestry.
